DOVIE RITCHIE
Dovie June Caudill Ritchie, the daughter of the late Silas and Martha Caudill, passed away at her home on
Clear Creek of an apparent heart attack on May 5, 2004.  Dovie was 87 years of age at the time of her death.

Surviving Dovie are her husband, Mart; one daughter, Sandy Collins; two granddaughters, Meredith and
Brittany Collins; three brothers, Herbert, Lee and Jim T.; and one sister, Mary Shepherd.  Preceding Dovie in
death were her parents, two brothers, Herman and Hargis Caudill, and two sisters, Tina Whitaker and Tessie
Cornett.

Dovie married Mart on February 29, 1946, and they moved to their home on Clear Creek in Knott County,
where they loved all of their married life.  Dovie graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in
elementary education and taught school for 35 years.   Her last several years of employment were at
Emmalena Elementary School in Knott County.  Dovie joined the Old Regular Baptist church at Lothair in 1955,
but later took her membership to the Blair Branch Old Regular Baptist Church and had been a member there
for 23 years at the time of her death.  She attended and enjoyed her church as long as her health permitted.

Dovie was a good wife to Mart, a caring, loving mother to Sandy, and a proud, adoring grandmother to
Meredith and Brittany.  Her granddaughters have fond, loving memories of the times they spent with their
grandmother, preparing for holidays, birthdays, boating adventures, camping trips, and sharing books they all
enjoyed reading.  Her sisters and brothers remember her as a dear, understanding sister, whose smile always
cheered everyone up.  She was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews.  We all treasure the memories
of the times we got to spend together and the life she led before us.  Dovie is and will be sadly missed by Mart,
Sandy, Meredith, Brittany and all of her family and friends.  We rejoice in the knowledge that we will one day be
reunited with Dovie when the Lord calls us to our heavenly home.
