Robert Stephen Newman

Robert Stephen Newman, 62, entered eternal rest on
Friday, August 15, 2003 at his home in Richmond,
Kentucky, with his family at his side. Bob was a native
of Letcher County. He was born on September 25, 1940
at Carcassonne, Kentucky.
He was the son of the late Madge Pratt Newman and Arville Newman.
Bob married Lily Eldridge on March 10, 1963. They were blessed
with four children; three sons, Donald Ray, Stephen Dale, and James
Craig Newman, all of Richmond, Kentucky; and one daughter, Melissa
Ann Ohler of Greensboro, North Carolina. Bob was so proud of
his grandchildren; four granddaughters, Stephanie Larson, Jordan,
Allison and Lily Taylor Newman; and four grandsons, Rob, Ryan
and Austin Newman, and Joey Ohler.
He retired in 1998 after 30 years with Rockwell International.
Bob joined the Dixon Memorial Church on November 25, 1965
and was baptized on November 27, 1965, by Reverend Carl Back
and his father-in-law, Crit Eldridge. He later moved his letter to the
Little Bull Creek Church where he remained a member until his death.
Bob found out he had lung cancer in February of 2003 and he
fought valiantly for his life until the end. He only asked God to let
him live until August so that he could take communion with his brothers
in Christ one more time. On the Friday before communion at the
Little Bull Creek Church, God took Bob’s hand and I feel like he
took communion with God in a better place where he doesn’t have to
suffer anymore, and can rejoice with his Lord and Savior. His faith
in God never wavered and his greatest prayer was that his children
and grandchildren would prepare to meet him in Heaven someday.

     Lily Newman.
